Recently, Rolling Stone released a list of the worst movies of the past year. While I
agree with most of their picks, the one that stood out was "Suicide Squad". While there
were some flaws due to studio interference, it was no means a bad movie.
There are far worse films that came out. Among them are "Batman V Superman",
"Ghostbusters", the forgettable "Lights Out", "TMNT: Out of the Shadows" and
"X men: Apocalypse".
My pick for the worst movie of the year is:
"How to be Single."
I found this piece of dung to be painfully dull and a complete waste of time. I wanted
to walk out of theater do something else with my time. It is the worst rom/com I have
seen in my life. Clearly I'm not the demographic for this because when I went to go
see it, many girls were laughing at gross parts. Words cannot describe about how bad
it was. It sends the wrong impression of relationships and men in general. I really hated
Alison Brie's shallow and needy character. She was the worst part of this.
Clearly, Dakota Johnson didn't inherit her famous parents acting genes as her character
is really dull and dates from guy to guy. Rebel Wilson was the only funny person in this.
Clearly Rolling Stone has no credibility when it comes to reviewing movies.I may
make my own worst movies list soon.

1. David Bowie (actor/musician/singer) , "Labyrinth" , "The Prestige"
2. Prince (actor/musician/singer), "Purple Rain"

Dr Strange
Doctor Strange
Dir: Scott Derrickson
Cast: Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen,
Tilda Swinton
At a time when superhero movies have reached their peak comes the most trippiest
since Inception. The popular Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Stephen Strange. He
plays an arrogant neurosurgeon whose hands become mangled after a nasty car wreck.
Travelling to the far East to repair his broken hands, he meets the Ancient One
(Swinton). In order for his hands to heal, he has to learn the mystical arts and paths
to alternate dimensions. He gets help from another sorcerer Karl Mordo and they
must stop another evil sorcerer (Mikkelsen). The gemstone that Strange wears
in his necklace helps him travel through dimensions.
This move was painfully average with its mediocre story and forced humor. The
visuals during the dimensional travel scenes were top notch as they were ripped
straight from the Strange issues drawn by the famous Steve Ditko in the 1970's.
The best scene was when the sorcerers were bending the buildings & streets while
Strange was fighting them.
Strange's backstory felt rushed and poorly done in the time frame given. The evil
villain like most Marvel movies was utterly forgettable. Strange's love interest
(McAdams) was dull and contributed nothing to the overall plot.
Despite the MCU releasing three movies a year, it almost feel like superhero
movie fatigue is setting in. It's not a bad movie just passable at best. This film
may feature the bells and whistles but it lacks the proper story to make this movie
even better. It's my least favorite Marvel movie.

NES Classic Shortage Rant
When Nintendo released their NES Classic mini console a few days ago, many people
including scalpers were quick to buy them up. Normally retailing for $60, most scalpers
are buying them in bulk then reselling them for 8 times as much. Many stores all over
are selling out of them once they hit the shelves. If there is a shortage going on then
why are there hundreds of youtube videos of people playing them and opening them up?
Where did they get them during this crisis?
The NES Classic which plugs through an HDMI signal, has 30 preloaded games
including Mario, Zelda & Pac Man. It does not feature expandable memory slots.
I partly blame Nintendo for this due to their products being scarce when first
released. The demand for them goes up. This happened when the Wii was first
came out and everyone and their dog wanted one nearly ten years ago. Nintendo
intentionally does this to drive up the sales of their products.
I even remember the Tickle me Elmo doll shortage that happened 20 years ago
after it was featured on a talk show. People were paying through the nose to get one.
According to Nintendo, the next shipment of mini consoles will arrive sometime
in December, just in time for Christmas. It's better to play the waiting game rather than
pay through the nose from some scummy, lowlife scalper looking to make a quick buck.
They'll be the ones stuck trying to get rid of it at a higher price. I'll wait after the
holidays when they have more in.
Edit:
12/20/16- The prices for these NES systems have come down drastically (under $200)
since more shipments have come in. Hopefully by next year, more systems will be
available which will force the scummy scalpers to lower the price.

Eatery 3: Jack's Restaurant
Jack's Restaurant
60 Crescent Dr.
Pleasant Hill, CA
60 Crescent Dr.
Pleasant Hill, CA
You'd be hard pressed to find quality food without spending alot. Jack's bar does
just that. Located on Crescent Drive in downtown Pleasant Hill, this bar/grille is
perfect for dining out after catching a movie at the nearby theater.
The upscale atmosphere is family friendly and quite inviting. Their breakfast and
lunch dishes offer many tasty comfort foods while the sizes served make up for the
prices on the menu.
Jack's was opened by the Marcovici's, 3 Clayton raised brothers who have followed
in their parent's footsteps in the restaurant business.
Pro
the variety of food served here is nice. The entree of fish and chips
were hot and delicious. Waiter offered to refill my drink for free along with
providing condiments as well. There were many TVs to watch a game on.
Con
It was quite pricey for its location. Depending on what time you come in
it can get loud (Thankfully we arrived late in afternoon). Our food took awhile
to come despite not being very busy.
I have been coming here for the past few years and enjoy it every time. Jack's
is my favorite restaurant that's close by. When it comes to quality dining, this place
is worth checking out.
5 out 5 stars. No problems just good food.

Eatery 2 : The Cooperage
The Cooperage
32 Lafayette Circle
Lafayette, CA
Downtown Lafayette has a diverse selections of restaurants in the area and this one
is no different. Called The Cooperage, this bar/grille offers many delicious appetizers
off their limited menu. They also serve comfort food favorites such as burgers, salads
and fried chicken.
Working as head chef is Eric Hopfinger, star of Food TV's Top Chef. Owner Andrew
McCormick takes a rundown bar and turns it into a happening place to watch the game
on their many TVs.
Pro
The burger was delicious along with their plentiful fries. The ample parking
nearby made it easy to get to. The atmosphere was nice along with plenty of
tables to sit outside. We were seated quickly and our waiter was very friendly
as we took our orders.
Con: The dessert menu sorely lacked variety and ran out of the ice cream flavor
I wanted. The prices were a bit too much for the average family that comes
here. As more people came in, the noise got so loud we couldn't hear our orders
being taken.
Luckily, our family was treated by my cousins so we didn't have to pay. The
Cooperage is a good place to have a drink with friends just don't expect good
service.
